Masan is adapted from a famous play of the same name written by Gopal Prasad Rimal. It is based on the conceptions of 1940s Nepali society and family life. Portraying the urban environment, costume and make up of 60 years ago was technically challenging for the cast and crew. Masan is the first DSLR Nepali film to be shot using a 5D-Mark 2 camera.
